Interviewed by Catherine Chan, the Vice President of Operations and Governance at the Canadian Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
Welcome to another exciting edition of our Member Spotlight series! Today, we are pleased to put our usual host, Stephenie Farrell, in the interviewee’s seat. Get ready to be inspired as we dive into her journey as an entrepreneur and learn how she’s making a difference in the lives of others.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey.
Thank you so much for having me here, Catherine. I’m the Communications Coordinator for The Canadian Women’s Chamber of Commerce and a coach and counsellor supporting professional women and women-identified entrepreneurs struggling with body image, yo-yo dieting, and eating disorders. My approach combines movement, mindfulness, energy psychology, and intuitive eating to guide them toward healing.
What motivated you to start this unique coaching practice?
My journey was a personal one. I’ve faced the same issues that my clients struggle with. Frustrated by traditional treatments, I explored alternative modalities like yoga, energy psychology, and mindfulness. As I found healing, I realized I could help others in similar situations, and that’s how my coaching practice was born.
What achievement are you most proud of in your entrepreneurial journey?
As an entrepreneur, my proudest achievement is integrating the various tools and techniques I’ve acquired to help women overcome their challenges. It’s deeply fulfilling to share the strategies that helped me heal and see them transform lives.
What advice do you have for those striving to feel empowered and confident?
You’re not alone in your struggles. We all carry burdens, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
How has being part of the Canadian Women’s Chamber of Commerce community impacted your journey?
The chamber has been a source of support and camaraderie. Connecting with fellow women entrepreneurs, hearing their stories during spotlights, and being part of this network has been incredibly inspiring. Knowing we’re in this together and have each other’s backs is heartwarming.
What keeps you motivated during challenging times as an entrepreneur?
My journey and experiences make me passionate about guiding others to overcome their struggles. Seeing women shine brightly without burdens is my driving force.
How do you envision the future growth of your business?
I’m excited to relaunch my program, “Nourishing the Soul,” this fall and help more women on the road to recovery. I’m also developing in-person group classes for yoga, PTSD, recovery from trauma and eating disorders; I dream of creating a nurturing community where women can support one another on the road to recovery and provide them tools and techniques to avoid future roadblocks.
What led you to become a member of CanWCC?
I joined the Women’s Chamber seeking my peeps. Connecting with like-minded women working towards their goals felt like the perfect fit. It’s been a fantastic experience, and I’m proud to be part of this community.
What message do you have for aspiring women entrepreneurs?
Discover your passion and take steady steps forward. Remember, a wealth of support is available, and never hesitate to ask for help. The journey might have challenges, but connecting with others and embracing the resources around you can lead to remarkable growth.
